HOT-HANDED HOWZE COOLS OFF NORTHWESTERN

To say Trevor Howze is in the “zone” maybe is an understatement. The Patterson High senior’s hot shooting carried his team to a 62-47 upset of No. 9 Northwestern in a Baltimore City non-division contest Friday evening.

Howze hit nine three-pointers for a game-high total of 27 points for the Clippers (6-2), and Brian Lewis and Coreise Bruce each contributed 12. Junior guard Terrence West led Northwestern (6-2), which had its five-game winning streak.

The Clippers opened a 32-20 halftime lead against the defending Baltimore City champions. In the last two games, Howze has 19 three-pointers including 10 against Western Tech in the consolation game of the Bristow Holiday Tournament at Gilman School last week.

Patterson, which won eight games last season, will host Forest Park Tuesday. Northwestern will travel to No. 14 Walbrook for a City non-divisional matchup.
